Pregnancy, Birth Prep & Postpartum Care
Safe, Effective Pelvic Floor Therapy During Pregnancy & After Delivery
Support your body through pregnancy, prepare intentionally for labor, and recover postpartum with individualized pelvic floor therapy in Avon, CT.
Pregnancy Support & Birth Preparation
Pregnancy places unique demands on your pelvic floor, core muscles, hips, and spine. Our prenatal care is designed to help you feel strong, supported, and informed as your body changes.
A major focus of our clinic is intentional birth preparation. Birth prep is designed to help you feel strong, connected to your body, and confident as you approach delivery. Whether you are planning a home birth, hospital birth, VBAC, or C-section, preparation matters.
During birth prep appointments, we prioritize:
Optimizing pelvic floor function- both strength and relaxation
Improving mobility in the hips, pelvis, and spine
Teaching effective pushing techniques and body mechanics in various labor positions
Reducing muscle tension that may contribute to tearing
Supporting baby’s optimal positioning
Managing pelvic pressure, pain, and discomfort
Building confidence through education and movement-based preparation
In addition to birth-specific preparation, prenatal sessions may include:
Pelvic floor assessment and gentle strengthening to support bladder, bowel, and sexual health
Core stability and posture work to reduce back pain and fatigue
Breathing strategies to coordinate the pelvic floor and diaphragm
Prevention strategies for urinary leakage, hip pain, and diastasis recti
By preparing your body before delivery, we aim to improve endurance, support smoother pushing mechanics, reduce unnecessary strain, and promote a more efficient recovery postpartum.
Postpartum Recovery & Rehabilitation
After childbirth, your body undergoes significant changes, and focused pelvic floor therapy is essential for safe, effective recovery. Our postpartum programs in Avon, Connecticut provide:
Pelvic floor rehabilitation for weakness, tightness, or overactivity
Management of urinary or bowel changes, incontinence, or pelvic organ prolapse
Healing guidance for diastasis recti and abdominal recovery
Scar mobility and rehabilitation following C-section or perineal tearing
Relief for pelvic, lower back, or hip discomfort that often persists after delivery
A gradual return to exercise, strength training, and daily activities tailored to your pace
We create individualized postpartum plans based on your delivery type, lifestyle, and goals. Our focus is on helping you regain strength, restore function, and feel confident in your body again.
Support Through Pregnancy, Birth Preparation & Postpartum Recovery
Pregnancy brings significant changes to the body, especially within the core and pelvic floor. As the body adapts to pregnancy, birth, and recovery, the muscles, connective tissues, and nervous system must continually adjust to support both mom and baby. When these systems are under increased strain, pelvic pain, pressure, leaking, core weakness, or discomfort during movement can develop.
At Lotus Pelvic Health, we provide one-on-one, evidence-informed care to support you through every stage- from pregnancy to postpartum recovery. Our approach focuses on preparing the body for birth, protecting pelvic floor function, and restoring strength, mobility, and confidence after delivery so you can return to daily activities feeling supported and strong.
